Omochitsuki / Rice Cake Making Event

Dearest Members,

I hope you are all enjoying your holidays and getting ready to welcome the coming new year!

Speaking of the New Year, some may be wondering about our annual Omochitsuki/Rice Cake Making Event.  Where did it go? What happened to the event this year?

Mainly, we have noticed from past years how busy people are during the Christmas & New Year holidays, and how challenging it is to get everyone together during the hectic time at the end of December. After hearing many of your thoughts and ideas on the matter, we have decided to have the event in January. The event is now set to be held at 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, January 14, 2018. This will also allow for many other people from different generation-groups to come join us for the event as well.

As usual, one day prior to the event, we will be in need of many volunteers to help in making preparations and setting up the venue. The same goes for the day of the event, an hour before start (this would be 10:00 A.M. on Sunday the 14th). Lastly, we will also need volunteers to help pound the Omochi during the event, and also to help clean up afterward (about 3:00 P.M. on Sunday the 14th).

We would be grateful to those of you who are willing to lend us your rice-cookers and electronic-mochitsuki (rice-cake-making) machines for the event. If you could, please bring these appliances to the venue one day before the event (Saturday the 13th).

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Also, as usual, the event will be open to the general public, so be sure to bring all your family and friends to come join in the fun.
